Though this topic can be a drag, your dragging sex life is far worse. Don’t worry — you’re in good company. Here’s how to boost your libido.

By Leslie K. Hughes

Much of society operates under the assumption that men are ravenous for a romping all the time; that they are foaming at the mouth for a good f*** nearly any time of day.

While some men may be that way, chances are good there aren’t as many lads as you may think who are lusting at that level.

So it’s time to put all thoughts aside that you’re the only guy struggling with this issue because news flash: you’re not.

Now that you know you’re not alone (misery loves company, right?), let’s get down and dirty with how to boost that libido so that maybe, just maybe, you’ll find yourself foaming at the mouth for more, too.

How to Va Va Voom Your Virility

Though there is no shortage of synthetic solutions to your low libido or lack of stamina, those options come with a lot of additional baggage.

Think of all the nightmare-inducing side effects you hear on commercials for prescription meds. Viagra and other pills promising to increase your drive are no exception to that rule. With “abnormal vision,” nausea, and an uncomfortably long erection on the list of potential outcomes of popping these pills, you’re in for some serious buzzkill material.

Thus, before you resort to the manufactured quick-fix, why not try these natural solutions that are far more likely to benefit you in the long-run and not leave you with a slew of new issues to battle.

If and when you find yourself feeling less than thrilled to do the deed, then turn to these solutions for a below-the-belt boost.

1. Add Some Ashwagandha

Though the pronunciation of this one is a mouthful, if you add this herb to your daily regimen, your partner will be thanking you for giving them a mouthful.

Results of a 2011 study proved the power of this Indian herb to increase blood flow throughout the body but, in your case, to where it matters most.

Though the taste of this one isn’t something to love, you’re going to love the wonders ashwagandha works when added to your morning smoothie. There’s also the capsule option for a quick, easy, on-the-go morning boost.

2. Maca in the Morning

This Peruvian plant may be the answer to all your low libido prayers, and the great news is it’s easy to come by (no pun intended).

Maca’s efficacy in the area of lust has been proven in a number of studies, so this one can’t just be chalked up to the solution for a lucky few.

Similar to ashwagandha, you can throw maca powder into your morning smoothie or pop a capsule for the same effect.

We know the concept of powders to fix your libido may seem a bit “out there” for you, but don’t knock it until you try it; keep an open mind and you may just find yourself knocking some serious boots.

3. Scale Back the Porn

Before you panic, we are not suggesting you stop watching porn.

However, we have done a VISCERAL poll and results show that watching too much porn can leave you feeling desensitized (both mentally and physically), and underwhelmed by the real thing.

So, the happy medium here is to find something you’re into that seems realistic for you to create in real life and stick to watching that. Otherwise, you may find yourself in a black hole of never being able to fulfill your desires, and we all know that once you go into a black hole, there’s no coming back (in more ways than one).

4. Squat It Out

Oftentimes the lack of a desire for sex stems from a lack of testosterone.

T is the male sex hormone, and can really make or break things when you’re writing the future of your sex life. So make sure you’re not only dotting your “i”s but also crossing your “T”s and getting enough of that hormone to fuel your workouts in and out of the bedroom.

Leg workouts steal the spotlight for lifting your sex spirits, so start there. Sprints, pushups, pullups, and deadlifts are great as well. Really any exercise that utilizes some serious muscle mass will get your testosterone back in the game so that you don’t find yourself tapping out in the sack.

5. Make Time to Meditate

Nothing can take the steam out of your sails quicker than a good old fashioned stress sesh. There’s no putting your stress to the side for a quick romp in the bedroom — once you’re fixated on stress, you can say “sayonara’ to any thoughts of sex.

To help in the moment and also in the long-term, find your third eye and zen out on some meditation.

With apps like Calm and Headspace, meditating is accessible anytime, anywhere. You’re probably struggling to envision yourself tuning the world out, but if you swap out 10 minutes of your Instagram scroll for 10 minutes of meditation, you’ll see your stress decrease and your sex life increase.

6. Get Plenty of Zzzs

A lack of sleep can lead to a laundry list of issues, including the loss of desire for the bedroom fire.

Ideally, you want to get 8 hours of sleep but we know that 8 hours is closer to being a dream than a reality. Instead, aim to get as much sleep as possible and know that on the days your sleep is lacking, your sex life will be doing the same.

However don’t let those nights of few zzzs go too far, or else your testosterone levels will drastically drop, and you’ll find yourself stuck in a nightmare of no sex.
