Follow us into the dark. Here is where we get the inside scoop: what turns our fave sex gods and goddesses on when the lights are turned off.

By Leslie K. Hughes

As much as I love the California sun, there is something about the glowing star going down and the moon coming up that really brings out my inner wild child.

So if you’re anything like me, and find that night is the time your sexy vibes shine the brightest, then you are going to love our new series, VISCERAL AFTER DARK.

This series will have us chatting with some of our favorite sex gods and goddesses to see what turns them on when the lights are turned off.

I am beyond excited that the legend to kick off this series is a woman of many talents. From a blogger extraordinaire to a podcast maven; from a killer entrepreneur to a MILF, Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential is no stranger to a sexy night with her hot husband, Michael Bosstick. These two even created their own lube company, Woo More Play, to make sure that the fun never stops, no matter how busy life gets. (Check out our write-up about why this lube is a Visceral fave.)

WIthout further ado, here is our first installment of VISCERAL AFTER DARK, featuring Lauryn of The Skinny Confidential with all the after-dark vibes.

In the Dark With The Skinny Confidential

VM | What 3 things make you feel sexiest?

LE | A little red light in the bedroom because it’s the perfect dim. It gives the room this sexy, sultry vibe that makes you want to lay in bed and have sex.

A great outfit with a great pushup bra, a flirty drugstore lash and a high boot makes me feel sexy.

And then just being naked. I love being naked. My husband and I went to Santa Barbara over the weekend where we had a little Jacuzzi and outdoor shower. We were just naked all weekend.

VM | What scent do you think screams “sexy” for both guys and girls?

LE | I love my husband’s natural smell. There is something about his pheromones that make me so attracted to him even when he’s not wearing cologne or deodorant. I just love his natural smell.

I also love this blood orange perfume that I found from Pacifica Beauty. It’s this light citrusy mist that gives this understated sexy scent. It’s one of those ones where people ask you what you’re wearing but it’s not overpowering.

My other favorite is this Egyptian musk oil that Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy used to love. I like to put it on right out of the shower and it kind of blends with your skin. You can wear it day or night and wear it alone or with something stronger. Sometimes I like to mix it with the blood orange perfume.

VM | What songs are a must for you to listen to get “in the mood” after dark?

LE | We listen to Queen, in fact I got pregnant with my daughter listening to Queen. We listen to a lot of Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald and (this is so random) but I love the Drive soundtrack. It’s just super sexy and so good. Then for a quickie some Bossa nova is great.

VM | Do you like a pre-sex sesh drink? If so, what’s your drink of choice?

LE | Oh ya. I love champagne, but if I really wanna turn it up a notch there’s nothing better than a skinny marg with lemon, lime, Cointreau and a half rim of salt on the rocks.

VM | What other mood-setters do you like for an after-dark sesh? (Whether it be a solo sesh or with someone.)

LE | When I have privacy, when my phone is out of the room, the lighting is right – so obsessed with lighting. Music, candles, oil, palo santo and Woo coconut oil lube. You can lick it, suck it, fuck it and it really gets me in the mood. Also just the space to be able to connect and not have to run off and go do something.

VM | What do you find sexy in a guy?

LE | Confidence is number one for me. I like a guy who is confident and doesn’t need his ego stroked 100 times a day. Almost a touch of arrogance, but it’s not, it’s just confidence. And I find it sexy when a man is resourceful, and my love language is touch so I liked to be touched.

The most important thing though is the brain. I fell in love with my husband because of his brain. He is a reader and there’s nothing sexier. His library rivals the Beast’s from Beauty and the Beast

VM | What does the word “sexy” mean to you?

photo | @jennelombardo

LE | It means feeling confident and self-assured and not needing any outside reinforcement from anyone else. Just feeling sexy in your own skin.

VM | How has your definition of “sexy” changed from when you were younger to now as a hot new MILF?

LE | Definitely when I was younger it was pushed up boobs, bleach blonde hair and probably trying a bit too hard. Now it’s so much sexier to be understated and not so loud with everything I’m doing. There’s nothing sexier than throwing my husband’s flannel on with 2nd day blow out hair and a nude nail. It’s not always about extravagance now.

VM | What are some suggestions to keep things sexy, whether you’re casually dating or in a long-term relationship (esp in this time of quarantine)?

photo | @studioflamingo

LE | Coconut oil lube, setting the mood, not bitching at each other, massage, and a great blow job. We got so many good oral sex tips from Alice Little who is the highest paid legal sex worker in America. She gave tips for going down on a man and a woman and they’re super helpful.

I’m very dominant in my business so it’s important to me to be feminine when it comes to having alone time with my husband.

VM | Anything else you’d love to share?

LE | We have a couple great podcast episodes all about sex with Alice Little and Sex With Emily (part 1 and part 2). Definitely check them out if you want to hear about a day in the life as a legal sex worker, or if you want to spice things up in the bedroom.
